Key finding: Colostrum also altered gut microbiota in fermentation tests, increasing Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus populations and short chain fatty acid production, and two colostrum peptides were identified with predicted interactions with host targets.
In an animal study in mice with loperamide induced constipation, goat colostrum accelerated intestinal transit and was associated with changes in the colonic lining, with notable changes in gut regulators that included motilin.
