1What Is Selank?

Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide (7 amino acids) developed by the Institute of Molecular Genetics in Russia. It is a modified analog of tuftsin - a tetrapeptide naturally produced from immunoglobulin G (IgG antibodies) that plays a role in immune regulation and anxiety modulation. Selank has been studied for potential anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) and nootropic (cognitive enhancement) effects in animal and some human research. It is available for in-vitro laboratory research only.

Anxiolytic Effects in Animal Models

Multiple Russian studies have shown reduced anxiety-like behavior in rat models using elevated plus maze and open field tests, with effects comparable to benzodiazepines but without observed sedation in the studies.

BDNF Modulation

Animal research has shown Selank may increase BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor) expression, which plays a role in neuronal growth and learning processes.

These findings are from pre-clinical and early-phase research. Results in human subjects have not been established.
